GENERAL INFORMATION
Course Description and Objectives
Designed for endocrinologist, internists and interested primary care physicians, this 3rd. Joint SPED/AACE Update meeting will discuss the latest information on the diagnosis and management of endocrine, diabetes and metabolic disorders. This 4-half-day course will span the full spectrum of endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism through lectures given by a selected, nationally recognized faculty. This will be a half day course so that participants have free time to enjoy hotel facilities and Puerto Rican beautiful attractions.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
* Rationalize based in the scientific evidence the management of osteoporosis
* Review the approach to the patient with metabolic renal stone disease
* Describe the approach to the patient with an adrenal incidentalomas
* Review the role of anabolic therapy in postmenopausal osteoporosis
* Describe in-hospital management of the diabetic patient
* Explain new therapeutic approaches to the patients with diabetes
* Understand essential concepts of statistics
* Identify patients that will benefit of growth hormone (GH) therapy
* Discuss the clinical relevance of prediabetes in the populations at risk
Intended Audience
This course is intended for endocrinologists, internists, family medicine practitioner or pediatricians, with interest in endocrine disorders or who manage endocrine disorders on their daily practice.
Date and Location
The 3rd. Joint SPED/AACE Clinical Update and the 30th Annual Diabetes Post Graduate Course will be held from December 6 – 9, 2007 at the San Juan Intercontinental Hotel. The San Juan Intercontinental Hotel is a 10 minute drive from the Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport, facing one of Puerto Rico most beautiful beaches.
Registration
To register by mail you should mail your registration form to P.O Box 364208, San Juan, Puerto Rico. 00936-4208. To obtain the form online, visit www.spedpr.org. Complete the registration form and return by mail or fax. You can fax your registration to 1-787-766-0930. Registration must be received by November 1, 2007. Early registration is advised because of housing limitations. A letter of confirmation will be sent upon receipt of payment and completed registration form. This letter should be presented at the meeting registration desk.
The tuition fee will be waived for bona fide SPED members, faculty, residents and endocrinology fellows in training. For all residents, a letter from the chief of the program, certifying status, with the registration is mandatory. Tuition includes admission to all lectures, the course syllabus, CME certificate, refreshment break and lunches.
Registration fee for non-society members is $300.00 for the Course or $100.00 per day. A reduced tuition fee of $100.00 for other health care professionals will be available. The daily fee will allow the physician to attend all scheduled educational session on that date, a CME certificate for the session attended and participation on the break and lunch.
Cancellation Policy
Your registration fee, less $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received by The Puerto Rican Society of Endocrinology and Diabetology before November 15, 2007. No refunds will be made after November 15, 2007. All refunds will be processed 30 days after the meeting concludes. In the event of unforeseeable circumstances that lead to the cancellation by the organizers of the above mentioned conference, all registration fees will be fully refunded.
Lodging Accommodations
The San Juan Intercontinental Hotel is located less than a mile from the Luis Muñoz Marín International Hotel in one of the most beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico. A reduced room rate $169.00 plus taxes, per night, based on single /double room occupancy has been arranged for course participants. To guarantee the reduced room rates, book your accommodations, on or before November 5, 2007. The room rates will be honored for course attendees two (2) days before group arrival and two (2) days after group departure base on availability. The charge of an extra person in room is $40.00 per night plus taxes, which are currently 22%. There is no charge for children under 16 years occupying the same room as their parents.
